Photoshop is undoubtedly one of the forerunners of all the kinds of editing software that swarm the marketplace. With the plethora of tools and features that it offers users, Photoshop is fast gaining a reputation as one of the most widely used photo-editors in the editing sphere. However, there is still the challenge that most first-time users face when it comes to maneuvering their way through the software and learning about its true potential. In fact, there is a large percentage of users who are still unaware of all Photoshop has to offer, simply because they don’t know how to get it to work for them. However, there still is a brighter side to this story. Adobe has now delineated some of Photoshop’s most outstanding, and most widely used features into a remarkable software they call Photoshop Elements.

Photoshop Elements is a conglomeration of features and tools that encompass all that an amateur photographer or a rookie editor needs. However it is the simplicity of use that Elements offers users, which are extensive enough to keep them engaged, while also ensuring that the procedures and maneuvers are as simple and uncomplicated as a person who is relatively new to the world of digital imaging would want them to be. Also, this software is incredibly popular with digital photography enthusiasts as it allows them features which are specially molded to suit their requirements and leaves out those which fall under the usage of professionals. The competent photo-editor, photo-organizer and selection of themes and templates offer you all the creative resources you need, while the simplistic functioning makes it a lot easier to perform a host of functions which would have seemed daunting in other circumstances.

Photoshop Elements allows you to achieve some of the most spectacular effects that you would like to experiment with, when using Photoshop. Only, it scales down the often elaborate procedures which Photoshop entails to one simple function. As a result, you can wipe away those disastrous red eyes, crop your images and even moderate the light and color adjustments in a few swift moves. This is where the automated ‘Red Eye Removal’ feature, the ‘Quick Fix’ functions and the ‘Auto Contrast’ and ‘Auto Crop’ options take over tedious task of fine tuning your images and making the necessary changes, while also allowing you to view the progress with before and after images.

The Organizer and Editor are delineated into activity-based tabs, so that you don’t have to wander through the entire software to find what you need. You can simply go into the ‘Organize’, ‘Fix’, ‘Create’ and ‘Share Photos’ categories, and then choose your preferred tool from the selection each category offers. The ‘Selection’ process is also a lot easier where all you have to do is paint over the object and the selection tool will find the edges by itself. You can even fine-tune the selection you’ve made by using the ‘Refine Edge’ dialog, which lets you smoothen, contract or expand the selection edge.

You can also convert your colored images to vintage black and white souvenirs, choose from the array of styles that Elements offers and even adjust the intensity as per the effect you want to achieve. The ‘Organize’ section has an incredibly useful feature called ‘Smart Albums’ which let you pick out the images you’ve edited on a particular date or even the one’s you’ve captured with a specific camera. Elements also makes it a lot easier to navigate through the software with the more prominent and larger icons it offers, while the astounding number of add-ons and tutorials you can find off the internet, make it an comprehensive and resourceful software to work with.

Photoshop Elements allows you a number of alternatives when it comes to showcasing your creations. You can either package your images into slideshows or feature them in web-galleries, or even print them out on contact sheets, depending on how you want to display them. The software also has a number of frames you can choose from, and even a selection of backgrounds and artwork that you can click and drop on your image to yield results that are nothing short of spectacular.

Photoshop Elements is a very useful resource by itself, or even a valuable stepping stone for your endeavors at mastering the complete version of Photoshop. And if you aren’t quite sure about which version you should opt for, you can even download the fully-functional trial versions that the website offers, for a limited amount of time, which will allow you to compare and contrast the two versions before you make up your mind. All in all, if you’re looking to make your first foray into the fascinating world of image-editing as hassle-free as possible, then Photoshop Elements is undoubtedly an option you can’t afford to pass by.

by Thabiso Maseko

One must think about the aesthetic nature of the songs, and the general sound of that style. The next action to make is to add a trait or two to the traditional music of your culture. In all music there are notes that sound horrible when played together or just plain uninteresting.

The addition of the breathy sound of the woodwinds tends to soften the sound. Therefore, having instruments from all the musical families’ balances the music to a fuller colorful atmosphere of sound. To diversify creation of Jazz music one should determine the elements to add or expand on.

Jazz Dance Terms: Ad lib, Axel Turn, Ball Change, Barrel Jump, Barrel Turn, Bounce, Cake Walk, Cat walk, Catch Step, Chasse`, Coffee Grinder, Contract, Curve Or Arch, Dolphin, Drop and Recover, Fall, Fall Over The Log, Fan Kick, Figure 8, Flick, Flick Kick, Freeze, Funk, Head-Roll, Hinge, Hip Walk, Hip-Fall, Hip-Roll, Hitch Kick, Hop, Jazz Drag, Jazz Run, Jazz Split, Jazz Square, Jazz Walk, Jump Over The Log, Kick, Knee Fall, Knee Slide, Knee Turn, Lay Out, Limbo, Mess Around, Moonwalk, Pencil Turn, Pitch, Pivot Step, Primitive Squat, Release, Ripple, Shimmie, Shiver, Shoulder Fall, Shoulder Roll, Sissonne Fall, Skate, Snake, Snap, Spins, Spiral, Stag Leap, Step, Switch, Table Top, Tilt, Touch, Tripplettes, Turns, Twists, and the Worm.

America who also gained their freedom from Europe joined showed their patriarchy by listening to the Jazz music on records and on the radio to encourage their fellow Americans to believe in their country, and the freedom it stands for. Hollywood, celebrity musicians and Jazz musicians even supported freedom by joining patriotic films to get their point across to the world. This act caused Hitler and Stalin to fear the effect Jazz music would have on all who listens who could easily be influenced by the idea of freedom, and patriotism.

In the area of Azerbaijan the year of the 1950’s produced even more forbidden Jazz music into a new style of Jazz known as Mugam that came from the Baku style of music. The sound of Jazz produces an atmosphere of relaxation and freedom that even spread to Algeria who wrote a form of Jazz that spread all around their country and in Europe known as Rai in the late 1960’s. Though there were many haters of Jazz music who forbid the use of it those who understood loved it.

The High School Jazz Competitions

A successful Jazz Group must possess something that allows them to feel at ease with showing soulful emotion with the instrument of voice. When every member does the same thing it makes the most magical atmosphere of music that would send chills up the spine. One can play the piece of music plainly as written, or one can perform the music as written shaping it into something beautiful. Emotion should always be involved with music performance. Moreover, the music performed in Jazz competitions should be believable to the listeners.

There was a girl who could not play her instrument the way she wanted to. He told her in the film to think of something that means a lot to her. She thought of that and was able to perform. If the piece you are playing does not move you personally you might find it hard to perform. However, if you are familiar with what the music is about it will be easier to interpret it. For instance, “Georgia On My Mind” written by Stuart Gorrell and Hoagie Carmichael, one may have never traveled to the state of Georgia. Nevertheless, the music is an expression of adoration for the state of Georgia.

LEARN THESE TIPS TO GET STARTED IN SALSA DANCING

November 25th, 2007
by Yomi A

In spanish “Salsa” means sauce, but to many others, it is a hot fiery style of latin dancing. Typically the music involves complex African percussion rhythms based around the Son clave or Rumba clave. Salsa can be a partner dance or recognized by solo steps. Other forms of Salsa dancing can be in groups of couples, with frequent exchanges of partners also know as “Casino de Rueda”. We will share some important elements of salsa dancing including some basic tips and tricks to take with you on the dance floor.

Having the right shoes for salsa dancing is very important. There are many different types and styles of shoes out there on the market. For men, most importantly, would be to have shoes with leather soles. Avoid open shoes like sandals, slippers, etc. This type of footwear can be detrimental if your partner misses a step and lands on your toes with her heels. Ooch! Solid high heel dance shoes seem to be the standard for women. Find ones that provide support for your feet. Remember to break them in to avoid getting foot blisters. Not Fun!

Your best bet is to take some classes at a local dance studio - especially if you’re a guy. Sorry, but most of the salsa pressure is on you. Since this is a Latin-based dance, the man is generally expected to make the moves and lead the way. And since spontaneity is such a big part of the salsa experience, you’ll need to create your own footwork within the salsa parameters. You are expected to keep constant tension in your arms as you guide your partner.

As a follow, ladies need to be quick and creative within the confines of following the guy. It’s important to watch his movements and look for cues and gestures that would suggest what his next move might be. Be sure to avoid bouncing or bobbing around. Always keep your back straight, place some tension in your arms, and allow the music to move your hips to the beat.

Be careful if you have a long ponytail or straight hair. When you get that close while spinning, you can hurt your partner by whacking them with your hair or hitting them in the face.

Always relax and have fun when you go out salsa dancing. Look at the experienced salsa dancers and pick up a few things that you can add to your own style. Keep practicing your salsa dance moves when you have time and watch yourself get better and better at it.

Last thing, always bring a hand towel if you plan on dancing salsa all night because it can get very hot!
