The consequences involved while downloading free music do not stop at illegal actions. There can be a virus or worm that hangs onto a download and makes itself a new home in your hard drive. These repairs can be extremely expensive.

No matter how new a musician is to the business, most likely some record company has purchased the copy writes. These copy writes protect the content of music, and require a purchase to legally listen. Most sites that provide music are relatively affordable.

Professional singers are paid through a record company that purchases all the rights to their music distribution. When a person gets a song or album from the Internet for free, these professional singers are missing out on the percentage that is entitled to them.

When an artist just starts out in the music industry, and his/her main goal is make it big, you have the chance of getting some music for free. Lots of times, the artist will offer clips of music to wet your appetite, then you may be asked to purchase the entire album. Otherwise, when popular music is being downloaded at no charge, expect a lawsuit.

The best thing to keep in mind when searching for music, is to pay for your downloads. There are several options available to choose the one that suits your music needs. Such as, one site may charge a few cents per download, or the site may require a membership of some sort. Either way, paying for a service is the safest way to download anything on the Internet, especially music.
