November 21st, 2009

For a long time we have used the video store as one of our main ways to access movies. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. Let’s look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

A Cry in The Dark: The amazing true tale of Lindy Chamberlain, an Australian female implicated of killing her infant, in spite of her claims that the youngster was taken by a dingo (a wild Australian dog). Author-director Schepisi informs his tale with nearly documentary like actuality, eloquently assaulting the format of trial by story that made Chamberlain and her spouse the most maligned couple in Australia. Streep and Neill are heartbreakingly excellent. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Sam Neill, Bruce Myles, Charles Tingwell, Notch Tate, and Lewis Fitzgerald. (121 minutes,’88)

Faces: Highly personal drama in regards to numerous infidelities is one of the few Cassel films to become a big hit. Here’s a commanding film with awesome action, particularly by Carlin and Cassel. Cast includes John Marley, Gena Rowlands, Lynn Carlin, Seymour Cassel, Fred Draper, and Val Avery. (130 minutes,’68)

Spellbound: Riveting story of psychiatrist Bergman trying to expose Poke’s hang-ups; Dali fantasy patterns, industrious and Oscar winning Miklos Rozsa helps Hitchcock build another brilliant film. Cast includes Alfred Hitchcock, Ingrid Bergman, Gregory Poke, Leo G. Carroll, John Emery, Michael Chekhov, Wallace Ford, Rhonda Fleming, Bill Goodwin, and Regis Toomey. (111 minutes,’45)

Across the Universe: A young English boy comes to the US to find his father. On his search he finds, and falls in love with an American girl. Set in post Vietnam War US, this movie is really a vehicle to play a lot of Beatles music. Cast includes Julie Taymor. Evan Rachel Wood. Jim Sturgess, Joe Anderson, Dana Fuchs, Martin Luther McCoy. T. V. Carpio, Spencer Litf, Lisa Hogg, Bill Irwin, James Urbaniak, Dylan Baker, Joe Cocker, Bono, Salma Hayek, and Eddie Izzard all make appearances. (2007 Romance)

Heartbreaker: Chicano Allende falls for WASP Dunlap among an ambiance of custom-fitted cars. Dull self sufficient production is displeasingly devoid of observations into the lifestyle it portrays. Look quick for Patty “Apollonia” Kotero. Cast includes Daybreak Dunlap, Peter Gonzales Falcon, Michael D. Roberts, Miguel Ferrer, Pepe Serna, and Rafael Campos. (90 minutes,’83)

Madagascar: A fun animated family comedy. When Marty the zebra decides he wants to see the world from outside the zoo, the penguins help him escape. Marty is gone, his friend also breaks out to find him and bring him home. Once out, they are captured by well meaning humans and shipped to Africa, to be returned to the wild. They miss Africa, and wind up on the magical island of Madagascar.

Hook, Line & Sinker: Conceivably ludicrous premise about allegedly dying man who runs up one hundred thousand in credit card debt. Even Lewis fans can be bored. Cast includes Jerry Lewis, Peter Lawford, Anne Francis, Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez, Jimmy Miller, and Kathleen Freeman. (91 minutes,’51)

Scandalous John: A Disney comedy Western chronicling what occurs when older, lovably ornery rancher Keith refuses to sell his land to a developer. Keith’s wonderful performance as a contemporary Don Quixote gives this one a lift. Cast includes Brian Keith, Michele Carey, Rick Lenz, Harry Morgan, and Simon Oakland. (113 minutes,’70)

Airport: Weak, later Laurel and Hardy comedy. One conceivably excellent scene with dull-burn as director Kennedy doesn’t meet his normal high standards. Cast includes Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Edgar Kennedy, Jacqueline White, Horace Stephen McNally, and Donald Modest. (67 minutes,’43)

Remember, be creative and use phrases like “Free Movies To Watch Online”. If the first search proves ineffective type in something different. We would recommend trying “Movie Streaming Online” for new search results.

When you’re about to hit the road, make sure you take your laptop or portable viewing device with you. Blocbuster Don’t worry; you’ll be making up that money soon, by seeing some great movies. Plus I’ve started watching movies I would normally avoid.
